The home at 2538 Sundown Drive is for sale at $2.3 million, listed by Compass agents Carl Gambino and Ariel Putman, and was recently shared on real estate fan account Zillow Gone Wild. Designer Stephanie Hatten updated the Gatehouse Kitchen, turning it into an airy English-country-inspired space. An eye-catching natural stone by Walker Zanger was selected for the counters and backsplash, and the space was outfitted with the latest Monogram appliances. Bursts of hot pink and apple green energize Steven Cordrey’s design for the home’s veranda.

She complimented the vibrant hue with metallic accents, Roman shades in a Morris & Co. fabric, and chairs upholstered in a moss green textile by Wesley Hall Fabrics. It’ll be “interesting to see how the market responds,” she added. A fairy-tale castle on a Wyoming hilltop complete with towers, tunnels and panoramic views has hit the market for $14 million. Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 8.8 for a two-person trip. The silence was amazing, the hosts were so lovely & they even organised for me to get a tattoo at my door!

Hermogeno and designer Lynette Chin brought in a mix of vintage and new furnishings in the family room, incorporating performance fabrics for durability. “[We made] sure that it was a really usable room, that it didn’t just look nice,” Hermogeno says. For a bedroom off the nursery, Carmine Sabatella wanted to create a jewel-toned escape. “I thought, if somebody’s taking care of the baby, they have a space where they can come and feel like it’s a retreat,” Sabatella says. The designer outfitted a door handcrafted in India with a vintage mirror to create a one of a kind headboard and bathed the space in deep emerald green.

The number of extra beds allowed depends on the option you choose. Gambino said the Glassell Park area where the home is located is popular among artists, musicians and actors. "It has like this wild garden feel, but very, like sophisticated in a way. It's all native plants and trees and like fruit trees, everywhere," Putnam said. "So like iit creates the most like whimsical environment for entertaining."
Hand-beaded light fixtures illuminate the seating areas, which feature tables and chairs from Janus et Cie’s Amalfi Coast outdoor collection. Throughout the home, vast living spaces have lofty cathedral ceilings and there are stone floors, grand fireplaces, spiral staircases and even hidden rooms. The late owner built it in 1992 on a 40-acre lot in the town of Bedford, at the western edge of the state by the Idaho border. He “always had a dream, he wanted a castle and that’s what he created,” said Speakman, who brought the home to the market earlier this week with Rusty Kunkle of Keller Williams Jackson Hole. We loved our experience, staff was great, property was beautiful, clean and well maintained. In addition to numerous events that take place there, the mansion plays host each year to Catskills West, a theater arts and drama camp run by Beverly Hills Parks and Recreation, from mid-June to early August. The camp presents a play in the pool area twice during the summer. We’re bending our castle definitions a bit for Riverside’s block-sized Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, which earns its spot here for its relative affordability and because, well, just look at it. The century-old hotel may not have citadel-like turrets and fairy tale towers, but it is adorned with minarets, a medieval clock and Mediterranean domes.

The fine printMust-know information for guests at this property
The two-bed, two-bath home sits on a quarter-acre lot, and Putman boasted the gardens and terraces as a draw for potential buyers. Plus, it has a great view of the city, she said, making it the ultimate LA outdoor space. Designer Ashleigh Miranda focused on juxtaposing technology and earthy elements in her moody media room. The landmark mansion was built in 1902 by architect Joseph J. Blick for Gertrude Potter Daniels, who paid $15,000 for the shingle-style home. In 1905, Susanna Bransford Emery-Holmes—known as the Silver Queen thanks to the source of her late husband’s fortune—purchased the home and soon made it her own.

A chandelier-lit spiral staircase leads to the second floor, and a fourth-floor rooftop overlooks the moat-like pond that sits on the edge of the property. Samatha Williams’s Tearoom in the Gatehouse is brimming with vintage charm and elegant accents. Working with Jacqueline Black and Michelle Porreca, Williams brought in a Chinoiserie wall covering to give the space a garden-like atmosphere.
“We had thought, What if she actually came back to life and asked us to remodel the space? They brought in plenty of glitz and glamour befitting the Silver Queen. “We wanted to concentrate on polished nickels and polished chromes to get that silver feel back in,” he says of the fixtures, hardware, and lighting by Kohler and Kallista.
I booked a stay here at the guard tower with my 3 year old and we had such a wonderful stay! The place was very very clean and the way everything was designed and layout of the land was superb. Room service is available till midnight we ordered firewood for a campfire and it was so much fun! Showering outside under the stars & sun was a great experience. We also loved the carry lamps around the pool to walk with at night 🙂.
And those windows, as well as the home’s deck, take in impressive views of the surrounding valley and across to the mountains on the horizon. Jerome Thiebault created a polished and petite bathroom complete with storage and a shower. Troweled cement plaster was applied to the walls, and handcrafted Zia tile adds pattern to the floor. The number of extra beds allowed is dependent on the option you choose.
You’ve likely longingly stared at this storybook structure with intrigue while stuck in traffic on the 101 near the Cahuenga exit (not too far from the also-magnificent Hollywood Tower). Well it turns out you can rent this five-bedroom castle (with a sixth sleeping area inside the turret), as well as an adjacent modern home. Inside, columns and arches mix with modern style; outside there’s a hot tub on the rooftop; and somewhere in between you’ll find a greenhouse-like patio encased among the turrets. Sure, the outdoor bathroom may take some getting used to, but we're confident you'll warm up to it quickly. Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in.
